Glycyrrhiza glabra is a traditional medicinal herb and the root of plant contains several active constituents. Two major constituents are glycyrrhizin and glycyrrhetinic acid that have a numerous pharmacological effects. The aim of study was to evaluate anti-Candida activity of G.glabra against vulvovaginal isolates of Candida. Minimal inhibitory concentration of the methanolic and ethanolic extracts was respectively 2% and <2%.MeanMICs of ethanolic extract diluted withDW, ethanol and DMSO were respectively 10 mg/ml, 625ïÂÂg/ml and 312ïÂÂg/ml. Our results indicate potential use of G.glabra root as anti-Candida agent isolated fromvaginal candidiasis, deserving further investigation for clinical applications.
